UPDATE
My garden neighbor on the other side of the plastic bed barrier, Alexi, damaged most of the plants in this area so his onions could get more light. The damage was hidden and I noticed only when the sunflowers started to mature way too early - around 3 feet high instead of their 10 foot high normal growth.
He also disagreed with my growing sunflowers because it is considered cattle feed in Kiev and he hated to see Americans wasting good land on cattle feed and not have any cattle.
He damaged the root systems on the herbs and flowers to prevent them from growing. This whole section was ruined. It started a garden feud that would go on for years.
