Since I garden in a community plot, I can't install anything permanent in my garden. I also share one spigot with twenty other people, so at the end of the day, we all want to water, but must take turns. Most of us have used trash cans or the like to store water and then water by hand, but last year, I decided I really like the even application I get from a sprayer nozzle.
Since this is on wheels, I should be able to move it easily. In the spring, I'm going to use it to move compost packages from the parking lot to the garden. When it's filled with water, it will be too heavy to steal and I can water at my leisure. In the winter, I can load it with my garden tools, cedar planks, arbor materials, and planters in it and wheel the whole thing out of the garden. Less expensive than a garden cart and much more useful.
As a secondary theft measure, I may use a couple of long shank padlocks to fasten the hose to the bin. The curved bit goes inside the bin and is threaded through holes in the side, and padlock is fastened tightly around the hose.
