My garden plan today

This is the new plan with a plot twice the size of last year's plot. Of course there will be tweaks, but getting this down and drawn out, I won't have dreams about it and fuss. Fence on three sides with the long fence line to the south. Fence gives more vertical support for growing stuff, but it is also exposed to theft. I've put the things that take all season to grow by the fence and the harvest often stuff in the middle.

Two vertical structures. One teepee for growing heavy squash. It has to grow up. I get hundreds of feet of vine from my butternut squash. I only have room if they go up.

The larger, 3-sided structure will help the tomatoes grow up with support. For the last two years, my tomato plants have gotten over 7 feet tall and I wasn't prepared to support them that high. I'll store the water, tools, etc inside. I will also hang bird feeders inside, and plant draping flowers in boxes I'll lay across the top.

Since the ground slopes from east to west, I will have to bury cedar fence plants on a north-south axis to control water and erosion. I hope the extra stuff I add to the soil will help with this too. I may also dig shallow wells throughout the garden to catch water that wants to run down the slope. It holds the water and releases it into the soil so the rain water lasts longer.

So much to think of.
